WEC Montréal 2010 undertakes to use resources judiciously and minimize its impact on the environment with a view to achieving sustainable development.

WEC Montreal 2010 is a responsible organization that seeks to adhere to the principles of sustainable development by reducing the environmental impact of its activities in a process of continuous improvement.

To achieve this, World Energy Congress - Montréal 2010 will endeavour to make all necessary efforts to meet the criteria of an event that respects the environment and its sustainable growth:

·Implement management procedures that respect the environment by reducing waste and use of materials at the source.

·Hold the Congress in a venue that has an environment policy and that makes every effort to improve the ecological management of its infrastructures, as well as its operational framework.

·Select hotel industry partners that have an environmental policy.

·The hotels selected are all within 2 kilometres of the Convention Centre in order to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.

·Whenever possible use electronic media in Congress related communication: newsletters, delegate registration, etc.

·To the extent possible, print documents on “EcoLogo” certified paper, produced locally from 100% recycled fibres, and promote the use of paper certified by the “Forest Stewardship Council” which fosters the responsible use of forest resources.

·Form a green brigade on the site in order to help in sorting of waste matter.
